Delete file and folder after xx minutes/hours/days/weeks with “Belvedere”

Using this app, you can perform various types of automation, including deleting files and folders after a set number of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years. You don’t need to install it, and all you have to do is extract the contents of the .exe file into a folder and after run the file ‘Belvedere.exe’.

Once the application is launched, an icon will appear in the bottom right-hand corner near the system clock

and all we have to do to configure it is to double-click on it

The first step will be to select a folder on which this tool will work, and to do this all we have to do is select on the “+” symbol in the bottom left-hand corner

Now we have to create the rule that will be applied to this folder, so we click on the ‘+’ symbol in the bottom centre

At this point, in the description field we can briefly describe what this new rule will do, in the Rule Options section flag the “Enabled” and “Recursive” to make sure that it also nests files and folders inside. As a condition I recommend selecting “Date last modified” but you can choose the condition you prefer, as well as whether it is in xx minutes or not as well as the time settings. As a final option select whether you prefer to move or delete the file.

After that we can perform a test by clicking on the appropriate button or save this rule directly

Returning to the previous screen, we now go to the ‘Recycle Bin’ section and enable or disable the recycle bin for deleted files.

In the preferences section, on the other hand, you will set how often ‘Belvedere’ has to run the check to apply the rules.

Now, since we have not installed the app, to have it run automatically when the computer starts, we need to create a task in windows that will run the executable when the computer starts, independently of whether a user is logged in or not
